In End Session - Sensex slides as India blocks WTO trade pact - 25/07/2014 16:35

Key benchmark indices edged lower in choppy trade after India blocked the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) trade facilitation agreement (TFA), a move that threatens to stymie a global trade deal. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, shed 145.10 points or 0.55%, up about 120 points from the day's low and off close to 165 points from the day's high. With small gains, the Sensex, and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, had scaled record high at the onset of the trading session. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was weak, with almost two losers for every gainer on BSE. The BSE Small-Cap index lost 1.88%. The BSE Mid-Cap index shed 1.24%.

In Mid Session - Jewellery, retail stocks decline - 25/07/2014 14:18

Key benchmark indices trimmed intraday losses after hitting fresh intraday low. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 181.06 points or 0.69%, up about 80 points from the day's low and off close to 210 points from the day's high. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was weak, with more than two losers for every gainer on BSE. The BSE Mid-Cap index was off 1.6%. The BSE Small-Cap index was off 2.14%. Indian stocks fell today, 25 July 2014, on concerns geopolitical tension in the Middle East and Ukraine could push oil prices higher. Weakness in European stocks also dampened sentiment.

In Mid Session - Market his fresh intraday low - 25/07/2014 13:21

Key benchmark indices extended fall and hit fresh intraday low in afternoon trade. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 212.50 points or 0.81%, off 240.82 points from the day's high and up 4.49 points from the day's low. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was weak. The BSE Mid-Cap index dropped more than 1.5%. The BSE Small-Cap index was off more than 2%. World stocks fell on concerns geopolitical tension in the Middle East and Ukraine could push oil prices higher.
